When Andreas Muhr talks about his wine cellar, it sounds almost like a family chronicle. Built in 1890, restored by his grandfather in the sixties, silent for many years – and then, in the autumn of 2010, revived with his first own harvest. The scent of young wine drifted through the old vault, breathing new life not only into the cellar, but also into a long history.
Stixneusiedl, the small romantic wine village in the Arbesthal hill country, is Andreas’ home. This is where he grew up, this is where his roots are. In 2008, he decided to build his own winery – with six hectares in one of the most exciting sites in the area: the Stixbergen. There, he replanted, experimented, learned, and grew into it. His description: down-to-earth, connected to nature, with a clear goal – to produce wines that bear his signature.
You can feel what that means in the glass. His wines are not a performance. They are genuine, straightforward, deliberately composed. The soils around Stixneusiedl are diverse – rich, powerful sites, crossed by a strip of dry sand. Andreas translates this mixture into wines that combine power and clarity. Red wines with structure, white wines with freshness and drive. Always modern in thinking, but deeply rooted in his family's tradition.
At Herzstück, we are particularly looking forward to his visit at the Weinkost Freitag. Because with Andreas Muhr comes not only a winemaker, but a storyteller. Someone who doesn't make much fuss – but prefers to let the glass do the talking.

Why Andreas Muhr belongs at Herzstück
Because he stands with both feet in the vineyard
Because his wines are quiet and yet say a lot
And because tradition for him does not mean standing still, but an attitude
